To continue work on a monograph about 1923 in Germany and to place this study in the broader context of German history. At this time Germany experienced invasion, economic collapse, domestic insurrection and military dictatorship. This extreme situation offers opportunities to observe the atmosphere of hysteria, the social breakdown, the destructive impulses and resentments which had been building up in Germany.
