This project uses oral history interviews, archival research, and other primary resources to document the role of small-town entrepreneurs in the early cable television industry. It focuses on towns in New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. It addresses the following questions: What role did the small town origins of cable television play in that medium’s subsequent development? How have the notions of localism and regionalism that first defined cable television service been affected by subsequent changes in the industry?
