The aims of the current proposal are the study, interpretation and publication of the exceptional wooden objects from two royal burials and the City Mound at the ancient Phrygian capital of Gordion, Turkey. The Gordion wooden finds date to the 8th century B.C. and comprise the largest and most important collection of ancient wooden objects to be recovered from the Near East. The first monograph on the collection is in press; the research that I now propose will lead to the publication of the second and final monograph in the series.
