Transcription and translation of Tlingit oral literature resulting in a book on Native Alaskan stories, history, and wisdom.

This project seeks to translate modern classics of Tlingit Oral Literature and prepare a manuscript for publication. There are approximately 130 speakers of Tlingit language remaining, and fewer than 10 people who can engage in translation activities in ways that prepare manuscripts for publication. The goals of this project is to prepare a manuscript that will be ready for editing and publication by the Sealaska Heritage Institute, and to create subtitles on videos of speakers that are published on YouTube.
