Funds to compile an extensive and comprehensive annotated bibliography of work in French written by black authors; to build a collection of these works, available to colleges and universities in the region; to provide information and materials pertaining to this field of study for faculty, students and institutions. Many of the most renowned black authors are products of French-speaking countries and their works are written in French. Increasing numbers of undergraduate and graduate students in the Atlanta University Center are expressing interest in black French literature and requesting courses in this area. Compilation of bibliography to be done by three graduate assistants. Bibliographies compiled as a result of project will meet a specific and critical need in black studies. Listing and location of all important source material in this area will be beneficial to any institution interested in building up a similar collection and books pourchased will serve as a nucleus for valuable educational asset for the Atlanta University Center and all education institutions in the region. Funds for three graduate assistantships, purchase of books.
