Faculty Development Workshop in the Humanities

Training workshops, discussions, presentations and demonstrations by consultants to provide Bowie State faculty with ideas and materials for the proposed team-taught experimental humanities course, "The Search for Self." ABSTRACT: Based on successful development of humanities program under NEH grant #H68-0-88, present project is to train twenty Bowie State faculty members in teaching of a basic humanities course, "The Search for Self." Training workshops, discussions, presentations and demonstrations by consultants will provide faculty with ideas and materials for the proposed team-taught experimental course. Other goals of the program are to find ways of enriching humanistic experiences in and out of the classroom, to develop more extensive humanities curriculum and expand Communication Arts Workshop. Will strengthen Bowie State's ability to teach humanities, as well as provide guidelines for other predominantly Negro colleges in the development of humanities programs. Funds for consultants' fees, travel, secretarial assistance, educational and office supplies, film rental.
