To study the language and oral tradition of the Iroquois Indians in the United States. It is a lexicographic and syntactic study of the languages of the Oneidas, one of the five Iroquois tribes. The objective of the study is to use these resources to assemble a useful Oneida-English dictionary and to attempt an analysis of the syntax and rhetorical style of Oneida.
