To examine the reasons for the failure of California farm workers to be accepted into the American power main stream of the 1930s (via unionism) and win the same fundamental rights and protections won by organized non-agricultural workers during the same period. The study will seek to determine the extent to which the ethnic and racial minority status of the workers contributed to their failure to win recognition.
