To examine the relevance of recent philosophical work to a number of traditional philsophical problems pertaining to the nature of the self, e.g. the problem of personal identity, self-awareness and self-observation, freedom and agency. "Recent philosophy" is understood to refer primarily to American, British, and Western European philosophy of the past 20 years.
