To familiarize college teachers of history, who are not themselves specialists in the Ancient Near Eastern Field, and whose training has been confined to the classical period, whith the Near East circa 1500-500 B.C. The seminar will provide an opportunity for formal instruction and wide reading on topics relating to the history of the ancient Near East, its cultural evolution, and particularly Near Eastern contacts with Greece and Aegean area between 1500-500 B.C. Special attention will be paid to the selection of material for presentation to undergraduates.
