To examine certain selected topics of German or Central European history from 1618 to the present, in light of various interpretations of the past by different historians. Typical subjects of investigation will be: the Thirty Years War as a Crisis of Capitalism, Frederick the Great, Metternich and the Balance of Power, Bismarck, Germany and the Outbreak of thh Two World Wars, Adolf Hitler and Psycho History.
