Seminar for Labor Leaders: To discuss 1) the emergence of the modern labor movement, 2) labor policies of American management, 1890-1929, in relationship to collective bargaining, and with attention to the impact of industrial opposition on the labor movement, and 3) the New Deal, stressing the new role of government in labor-management relations and the effect this had on trade unionism. Seminar will then relate historical knowledge to current problems of the labor movement.
