To examine the history and theory of rhetorical invention, with emphasis on the most significant modern developments in the field, including "neoclassical" invention, Kenneth Burke's dramatistic method and others. Participants will explore various conceptions of the composing process in order to formulate theoretical bases for undergraduate courses in rhetoric.
