To conduct a diachronic analysis of German-American patterns of migration, adaptation, assimilation, and revival of German-American ethnic identity among the descendants of the immigrants from two families from Westphalia. The anthropological analysis will be based on primary data drawn from genealogical research of these two family lines, documents, letters, oral history materials, diaries, old photographs, and personal experiences and knowledge as a descendent of these immigrants.
