Since the social poetry following the Spanish Civil War, an important group of younger poets has emerged. This study will examine the poetry of Claudio Rodriguez, whose basic concern is the oncological question. While never losing sight of concrete reality, Rodriguez seeks a transcendental view of it. Study will also examine the works of other important contemporary poets in order to determine how they fit into the mainstream of Spanish twentieth century poetry. The study is useful in relating current trends in Spanish poetry to important trends in the past.
