To read a selection of texts in three areas: (l) philosophy and methodology of science, accounts of expected scientific developments, studies about the humanistic implications of such developments; (2) science fiction, science fiction criticism; and (3) authors and critics, visionaries and mystic historians and psychologists, mainly contemporary, whose main thrust, despite an almost pessimism about the direction of contemporary reality, is a vision of coherence, of wholeness, ecology, interrelatedness.
