FAIN: FR-10300-78

Gordon C. Schloming
University of Portland (Portland, OR 97203-5798)

This study would explore the roots of industrial and commercial development to see how a Puritan middle class became at once entrepreneurial and libertarian. Focus would be on the religious and philosophic influences that made these roles compatible, and the economic forces at work in a developing, modern capitalism that separate the business classes from their initial liberal commitments.
