To study the period from 1690-1710, when writers were especially active. To read original sources to distill the essence of this material, and to consider implications to be published in several articles. Through the study of group biographies and learned journals of the time, we may reach the wider constituency, trace networks of communication, and relate learning to larger questions. Correspondence, journals and books from this period indicate the international character of the Republic of Letters.
