To apply to the study of metaphor what Hesse (Mary Hesse on metaphor and model) defines as: (l) analogical predication, (2) positive, negative and neutral analogy, and (3) the criteria for scientifically useful models. To discover whether the formal and functional similarities between the use of models in scientific explanation and the use of metaphors to extend or create meaning will lead to cognitive similarities as well. This investigation would generate three major articles dealing with the formal, functional and cognitive similarities.
