This study and research project will have two goals: (1) review all of Geertz's works to discover how he develops his theory on the relation of religion and morality and how he applies it to concrete cases; and (2) assess critically his theory and his application of it in light of the works of H. Richard Neibuhr, Paul Tillich, James Gustafson, Gene Outka, Ian Ramsey, William Frankena, Erik H. Erikson, Victor Turner and Robert Bellah.
