Literature and Alienation

To examine concepts of alienation in literature. This sense of alienation has been expressed through such devices as "ironic structure", the splitting of the self into the "double" or multiple "possibles" techniques of "estrangement". A close study of such structures and poetic constructs provides insights into the relationship between the history of ideas and literary form.
