To study selected major works of Ezra Pound, T.S. Eliot, Wallace Stevens and William Carlos Williams. The seminar will relate all four poets to the American poetic tradition and will place them in a broad intellectual and literary landscape. The seminar will explore those similarities in style and viewpoint which underlie the apparent antagonisms between European influences and the native inheritance.
