To study the social and cultural phenomena of pre-Hitler Germany in an attempt to explain the dynamics of what led Germany to embrace Nazism focusing on expressionist art, literature and film; the impact of Nietzsche, Freud, Wagner and Marx; the doctrine of Aryan supremacy; and the search for an alternative to communism and capitalism.
