To study the American Revolution in its history and in its interpretation by American writers, artists, and historians. Central theme will be the impact of the Revolution on the American imagination. Writers of the period to be studied include Franklin, Hopkinson, Mercy Warren, Freneau, Trumbull, and Crevecoeur
