To enable each seminar participant to improve his or her pedagogical effectiveness by increasing their awareness of what it means to define writing, the writer, and the teacher of writing in different ways. The current major approaches to the teaching of writing as represented by such writers as Maciorie, Winterowd, Gibson, Sale, Lanham, and others will be analyzed in substantial detail.
