Traditional Narrative

A seminar dealing with different types of traditional narratives, which will be studied both on their own terms and through a comparative approach. Differences between the oral and literary traditions will be stressed, as well as the patterns of influence the forms exert on one another. A broad range of materials, of international and contemporary, as well as ancient origin, will be analyzed.
