To examine, through writings of John Ruskin and through original works of art, the critical climate and artistic world of Victorian England. The aim is to shed light not only on Victorian painting and architecture, but on the literature of those disciplines; thus, the course would be of interest not only to art historians, but to those who teach literature and social history as well.
