A four-week seminar for sixteen college and university teachers on contemporary Latin American theater as stage production and as literature.

A 4-week Summer Seminar to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on “Latin American Theater Today: Social and Political Impacts on Aesthetics, Theatricality and Performance”. The Seminar’s goal is to provide teachers and scholars with a deeper understanding of Latin American theater from 90s to the present from a multidisciplinary perspective. Participants will read and attend plays in Buenos Aires, the capital of Latin American Theater; they will also meet playwrights, directors and actors. Participants will expand their knowledge and understanding of Latin American recent history, culture and politics and how they impact arts. It will benefit their teaching and scholarship and deepen their humanistic perspective. The Seminar expects to produce a final collective publication that will reflect the Seminar’s outcomes.
