Study of methods and insights of ecology to determine their applicability to international relations. Many similarities between ecology and international relations--each involves analysis of systems composed of individual and group actors that vary in size, capacity, resource needs and modes of interaction. Ecology treats living systems as evolving rather than static and such an approach would benefit international relations studies, which too often tend to view political systems as static.
