William of Malmesburg's Non-historical Works

FAIN: FT-10774-70

Joan G. Haahr
Yeshiva University (New York, NY 10033-3201)

Fellow to examine manuscripts of William of Malmesburg's non-historical works in preparation for publication of her dissertation, "William of Malmesburg: A Twelfth Century Scholar." William, a monk in the Benedictine monastery of Malmesburg, was the chief intellectual light of the so-called 12th century renaissance in England. Fellow has been unable to examine the manuscripts of many of William's works and has had to rely instead on secondary sources and manuscript catalogues, many of which are a century old. During fellowship period, she will work with photocopies of the manuscripts.
