Study of three utopian societies founded in the Soviet Union by Americans in 1922. Attention to aspirations of members of communes and conditions under Soviet rule. Will show differences between Soviet propoganda and actual conditions. Two communies failed, third succeeded largely because of machinery and fertilizer brought from the United States. Nevertheless, these communes aided Soviet Union in propaganda and finances.
