Research on Theodore of Studios (759-826). To transform dissertation, "Theodore of Studios: Byzantine Churchman," into a publishable manuscript, fellow to spend six weeks in Paris working with manuscripts of Theodore's letters, mainly clarifying passages which are not clear in the microfilm copies fellow has been using. Fellow to spend two or three weeks in Istanbul, familiarizing himself with place where Theodore lived and worked. Fellow also working on critical edition of Theodore's letters.
