Study of Jews in the antebellum South, part of a long-range project on history of the Jews in the U.S. How Jews fit into southern society, their relationships with each other and with members of the Christian community, their economic, social and political society. The degree of, and reasons for, pro- and anti-Semitic feeling that existed will also be explored. Fellow's previous book, The Leo Frank Case, necessitated much research on the history of the Jews in the South. He has just completed two anthologies on minority groups: one on ethnic minorities in general and the other on Jews in the South. When completed, study of Jews in antebellum South will be published by Holt, Rinehart and Winston.
