Research toward a history of Ulster for the period 1690 to 1886, treating three communities: English Protestant, Scotch Presbyterian and Irish Catholic. To contribute to a better understanding of ethnic conflict and identity, allegiance and political legitimacy,and economic development and underdevelopment, as well as illuminating the current crisis in Northern Ireland.
