To review the major scientific achievements of modern cosmology made at the Hale observations, as revealed not only in published scientific papers but also in unpublished manuscript materials and through interviews of observatory members. To interpret the achievements as reflected in the life, work, and philosophy of Edwin Hubble, a major figure in modern cosmology whose unpublished papers (including a diary) are desposited in the Huntington Library.
