Wordsworth did not believe his most intense experiences were incommunicable and he tried to discover and nurture language potential within "mute insensate things," even to establish a verbal relationship with ostensible silence. The project is to study the relationship between what Wordsworth believed was possible with language and what he actually accomplished with it.
