FAIN: FT-11892-74

To examine the linguistic manifestations of the Russian influence on native Alaskan culture. The proposed project will extend the study on the Russian lexical influence to the Suk (Prince William Sound) and Yuk dialects of Eskimo as well as to Eastern Aleut. The Russian influence will be studied in comparative terms to see what, if any, differences occurred in assimilation and to determine the role played by native culture and linguistic constraints in this assimilation.
