To survey Roman frontier sites in Morocco, Algiers, and Tunisia, as an important part of a continuing investigation of civil war and rebellion in the Roman Empire during the third century. The three volatile frontier zones--Pannonia, Syria, and North Africa--will serve as the foci for the analysis of civil war and rebellion.
