To examine the influence of American Political theory on the ideas and goals of the liberal democratic opposition in the Soviet Union. To determine if the theory of the American Revolutionary War period--the Lockian-Jeffersonian model rather than the later Hamiltonian-Madisonian one--appears either explicitly or implicitly in the writings and reported statements of leading members of the Russian liberal democratic group.
