The Mississippi River Floods of 1927 and 1937

To carry out a comparative study of the 1927 and 1937 floods on the Mississippi River. Both floods had great significance not only for the lives of the people driven from the land by high water but also to the institutions that provided relief and those that were to have prevented such floods. This study will probe the relationship between institutions and people. The general contribution of the study will be an understanding of how institutions and victims react to disasters.
