Non-European Societies and British Colonial Rule: A Comparative Study

To determine the position of non-European inhabitants in the regions dominated by expanding Europe in the nineteenth century. The approach will proceed through a series of case studies of both settler and non-settler regions. The study considers the timing, nature, and extent of European impact as well as the non-European socieities' responses.
