To study the stanza structure of modern poetry. Many modern poets manifest subtle principles of extrinsic ordering which are linguistically similar to those of older stanza forms and derive from classical rhetorical figures, from metrical patterns, and from regularieites in the conceptual structure of the poems they did in traditional stanzas, these modern devices give the literary art its aesthetic form and ritual significance.
