To examine and analyze graphic films (animations) which have been made in Poland, Yugoslavia, and Czechoslovakia during the past ten years. Research methodology involves critical analysis through a charting of iconographic data (visual images, symbols), and a comparison of resultant themes--searching specifically for social/political ideology in the films. Study will break new ground in the area of social criticism of film, will be international in scope, and will, reveal new information about thought that is being perpetuated in a direct, popular, and highly artistic form of expression. Study will be used for articles, monographs, and a critical analysis in book form.
