To study the relationship between T'ang dynasty Buddhist sculpture of the 7th-8th centuries A.D. and the post-Gupta, early Medieval (6th-8th centuries A.D.) Buddhist sculpture from north India and Afghanistan. Study will involve the international aspects of Buddhist art, in particular the profound relation between two great cultures of the Orient, India and China, during one of the most flourishing periods in their long history.
