The Growth of London, 1650-1780

To study the growth and development of London between the English Civil Wars (c.1650) and the advent of the Industrial Revolution (c.1780 Despite the obvious importance of London in English and in European history and despite the recent surge of interest by historians in urban studies, such fundamental work remains to be done on the metropolis during these years. This project embraces topics in social, economic and urban development, and involves the selection and collection on microfilm of relevant manuscript materials.
