Project consists of cataloging and evaluating approximately 2,000 cubic feet of material from the Federal Theater Project which P.I, and an associate discovered in a Library of Congress warehouse and which was subsequently given to George Mason University on permanent loan. Material includes play scripts, radio scripts, production notes, set designs, photographs, posters, and research files. The Federal Theater Project was comprehensive and experimental and this information may significantly change our understanding of theater in the 30s. The FTP also provides an opportunity to evaluate the effect of governmental subsidy of the arts. Eventually, this material will be made available to scholars through an FTP center in the George Mason Library.
