To compare revolutionary developments from 1910 to 1917 in the North with those in the West and South with an awareness that Mexican geography encourages a resilient regionalism. Preliminary studies in Chihuaha and Coahuila demonstrate that state leaders, such as governors served as essential links--interpreting national programs in regional terms and presenting local concerns to national leaders--between the people and the federal government. Study to be conducted in Mexico City, Puebla, Tuxla Guierrez, Morelia, and Guadalajara, Mexico. Study will lead to a better understanding of Mexican history. Rebels appeared with different motives in different places in Mexico, this proposal will examine these many Mexicos in revolution.
