To study the influence of the Salons Litteraires on the American revolution and the role of the Salons in the diffusion of the ideas of the revolutionary movement in France. The study will define the role of the Salons as a source of Parisian internationalism by tracing the concept of reciprocal influence between France and the U.S. Little work has been done concerning the influence of the Salon’s in spreading American thought in France prior to the Revolution of 1789.
