To analyse various approaches to the justification of democracy and to identify the most promising. Starting with the premise that a democracy is a government in which major policies are chosen by a vote of the citizens or their elected representatives and in which rights like universal suffrage and freedom of speech are effectively guaranteed-- P.I. will delve into reasons we have for regarding democracy as the best form of government.
