Ben Jonson's Poetry

To study the poetry of Ben Jonson especially his Epigrammes and The Forrest which present in microcosm all of his nondramatic poetry. The P.I.'s hypothesis is that the two poems, apparently miscellanies, are united by the poet's presentation of himself in various moments of encounter and by his experiments in poetic form, and that the interplay of themes, forms, and attitudes which seem to deny unity to the collections is in fact its source.
